Q2 2024 UK Sandbox Game Insights: Download and User Trends

Sandbox games continue to captivate audiences in the UK, and the second quarter of 2024 has seen interesting trends in both downloads and user engagement. Sensor Tower provides a closer look at the performance of the top five sandbox games on the unified platform.

Roblox maintained a strong presence with revenues fluctuating around the $1M mark weekly, peaking at $1.1M in late May. Downloads showed a slight decline from 81K in early April to 60K by the end of June, while weekly active users saw a gradual increase from 4.6M to just over 5M in the same period.

Melon: Sandbox experienced modest revenues, starting at a few hundred dollars in early April and rising to peaks of around $4K in mid-June. Downloads remained fairly consistent with a high of 15K in late May, complemented by a steady increase in active users from 215K to 231K over the quarter.

Block Craft 3D: Building Games saw revenues mostly under $1.5K weekly, with a noticeable dip to $600 in early June. Downloads started strong at 17K but faced a dip to 6.4K in early June, before a slight recovery to 8K. Active users started at 125K but showed a decreasing trend, closing the quarter at around 88K.

The Sims™ FreePlay had revenues that generally hovered between $33K and $53K. Download figures for the title reflected a decreasing trend from 9.4K to 6.9K, with active users seeing a slight decline from 58K to 51K over the course of the quarter.

Minecraft showed revenues starting at $104K and ending the quarter on a high note at $100K. Download numbers for the game were in a slight decline from 7.6K to 7.5K, while the active user base experienced growth, moving from 847K in early April to 933K by late June.
